Beau Desert Golf Club, 14th September
Beau Desert really is a 'hidden gem'. As you come off the M6 and head towards Cannock you have to wonder where 'Doris' the Sat Nav girl is taking you as you find yourself in the middle of industrial areas. But then suddenly all that disappears and you find yourself in Cannock Chase and in the middle of beautiful forestry, and there, hidden away, is Beau Desert Golf Club.
The venue for our TEEforeTWO Midlands golf day was recommended by Jim Rhodes, one of the Professionals on the European Seniors Tour, and according to feedback from Members on the day, it was a very popular choice, immaculately presented, and tough!
Everyone congregated for morning coffee and bacon rolls (very good they were too) and we were off the 1st tee at 10.30. We played our usual format of mixed 4-balls with two scores to count at each hole, no pressure then if someone is having a bad hole! The winners were (pictured), Mark, Janet, Mo and Ian with an excellent 74 points. Congratulations to them.
Late lunch followed in the dining room of this private members club, and tales of missed putts, and deep rough carried on until early evening!
The general consensus was that we should visit Beau Desert again next year; we have booked and will be publishing details on the Events pages in the next couple of weeks of this and many other 2010 events for TEEforeTWO Members.
