The Players Club, Chipping Sodbury, June 21st , 21st June
Whilst Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and all the petrol heads were listening to the roar of F1 engines and breathing in the high octane fumes at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday, Members of TEEforeTWO chose a more tranquil way to spend their day.
We met up on Sunday morning for coffee and bacon rolls at the Players Club, near Chipping Sodbury. A beautiful day for golf, a light breeze and glorious rolling countryside. We'd heard a lot about the Players Club; home club to European Tour Pro Gordon Brand Jr. and the World Trick Shot Champion, Paul Barrington. But would we need to learn some trick shots of our own on this testing course!? There were one or two long carries, notably the 3rd and 10th holes where the water came into play, but other than that there was nothing too daunting!
We played mixed 4-balls stableford, with the best two scores at each hole to count. Before we started, Su, who has played at the Players Club before, said that any score of 70 or more would be pretty good. Well - all the scores were 70 or better with the winning score being an impressive 89 points!
Congratulations to Su, Janet, Tom and Mike on winning and clearly the handicap committee is going to have to meet up!
Golf was followed by drinks and a late lunch in the clubhouse where diaries were brought out and dates were arranged for further games with new found golfing friends.
And some comments from members:
"Yet another triumph! Well done Michael and Janet - it was a super day. Thank you for playing so well Janet - we couldn't have done it without you - super team effort and thanks to Tom and Mike as well. Excellent venue and well chosen menu. I look forward to my next event with you all".

"I echo everything that Su has said in the above. Very nice to meet some new faces and of course the old ones too. Thanks to Janet and Michael yet again for the venue choice and enabling me to lose so many balls in the water! A tough course we all decided but well played by the winning foursome. Thanks to Julie, Virginia and Dave for a stirling effort and lots of good laughs on the way round. Hope to bump into you all again soon".
Paul
"Great day, good company and lovely course. Our team probably won the most balls lost competition! See you again in September looking at the events list. Have fun golfing"!
