TEEforeTWO Members arrived on a warm and sunny Sunday morning at Merrist Wood Golf Club near Guildford in Surrey from far and wide for a golf clinic and afternoon mixed 4-ball stableford competition.

The Clinic with Tony Johnstone gave everyone lots of tips on how to improve their short game and knock shots off their handicaps by becoming magicians around the green. Whether that actually happened out on the course during competition is not known! I can report however, that in our group, there were several cries of joy as balls came flying out of bunkers!

Other than a couple of heavy showers, we enjoyed perfect Summertime weather in tremendous company.

The course at Merrist Wood is not easy but nice and wide! Very scenic, beautifully maintained, particularly the areas where water came into play!! All agreed that we should return for another day next year and this has now been booked.

Evening drinks on the terrace followed by an excellent supper, we applauded the winners with 77 points, Ken, Claire, Claire and Alan, and recounted tales of improved chips and missed putts!

"We were extremely rude yesterday not to thank Janet and Michael on behalf of everyone after the prize-giving; once whisked away for a photograph, the moment was gone!
So "thank you" both for such a great day; we enjoyed the course and the food, both before and afterwards, was really very good.
We were privileged to start the day with a fabulous short game clinic with Tony Johnstone and all I can say is that practise (something I do not normally do) really does work.
The company was very enjoyable and special thanks to Claire, Alan and Ken - we made a great team and had fun.
