Issue: 27th June

Thirsk & Northallerton Golf Club, North Yorkshire, 27th June

TEEforeTWO's first Members' Day in the North East took us to Thirsk and Northallerton Golf Club in North Yorkshire. It was not just members from the immediate area who turned out on this lovely Summer's day; there were players from Scotland, Cumbria and Cheshire who travelled the distance and made a weekend of it - and very welcome they all were!

So keen was everyone that most arrived early, even before the coffee and bacon rolls were ready! We all gathered on the terrace and settled down to chat and get to know each other - and take in the lovely views at the same time.

Not a long course by any means at a little over 6000 yards off the yellow tees, and 5450 yards off the ladies' tees; no water, but a few strategically placed hazards which made you think your way round!

Post golf drinks on the terrace again followed by a late lunch; a perfect way to finish - particularly popular item on the menu being a delicious, and very nutritious, chocolate fudge cake - low calorie, or so we were told!

Our winning team of the stableford competition for the day was Alan, Lynda, Janet and George who amassed an impressive score of 85 points - well played!

We look forward to returning to the North East very soon.

And some comments from members:

"My first TEEforeTWO event and I must say won't be my last. Many thanks to Janet and Michael for organising an event "up North". Thanks to my team mates, Alan, George and Janet - thoroughly enjoyed your company. Also nice meeting all those new faces and hope to see you all again very soon".
Lynda

"I would just like to agree with Lynda that the event was enjoyable and well organised and if anyone out there is a bit concerned/nervous about attending one of the T42 events (can confirm that I was a little more than a bit nervous!) then they don't need to be - just give one a try - everyone was very friendly. I would also add my thanks to Janet, George and Lynda for the excellent team effort".
Alan

"I too thoroughly enjoyed this event and it was nice to meet up again with the others I had previously met at the Dukes event earlier in the season. I stayed with another member, Lynda, who opened her home to me and my dog and made us both very welcome. I played her home course on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you Janet and Michael for your warm welcome and I hope to see you both in August at the "Scottish Event".
